New Mission

The mission of OLLIN YOLIZTLI CALMECAC is to investigate, understand and raise awareness of the Indigenous cultures, which flourished in Cēmānāhuac Tawantinsuyu prior to the arrival of the Spanish in 1492.

Cēmānāhuac was the name used by the Aztecs to refer to their world.[1] It is a Nahuatl name derived from the words "cē" one/whole and "Ānāhuac", which in turn derives from the words "atl" (water) and "nahuac", a locative meaning "circumvented or surrounded". Hence, the name can be literally translated as "land completely surrounded by water", or "[the] totality [of what is] next to water". The term refers to the conscience that the Mexica had of the American territory they knew, surrounded by two great oceans, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Anahuac and Cemanahuac are Mexica(Aztec) names for the world they lived in, while Tawantinsuyu is the native name of the Inca empire. The Inca Empire (Quechua: Tawantinsuyu, lit. "The Four Regions"[2]), also known as the Inka Empire or Incan Empire, was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America.[3] The administrative, political, and military center of the empire was located in Cusco in modern-day Peru. The Inca civilization arose from the highlands of Peru sometime in the early 13th century, and the last Inca stronghold was conquered by the Spanish in 1572.

The organization also aims to provide new cultural outlets and opportunities for the Mexican Indigenous community in Pennsylvania, and other places as well becuase Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac travel to present the dance and music, encouraging peolpe to be a part of the preservation of some aspects of Aztec culture. We want to expose the Mexican and not Mexican community of today to the cultural heritage of native Mexico.

Aztec Dance has its origins in the cultures of ancient Mesoamerica., such as those of the Olmecs and the Chichimecs. These cultures have not been widely known since the virtual destruction of all the native cultures of the American continent since the arrival of the Europeans.

In the Nahuatl language, Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac means:

School of Blood Moving in the Heart

The Universal Declaration of Humans Rights in Nahuatl
