The mission of OLLIN YOLIZTLI CALMECAC is to investigate, understand and raise awareness of the MEXICAYOTL culture, which flourished in Mexico prior to the arrival of the Spanish in 1492.
From 2010-2020, OYC is funded by The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, which is committed to assisting the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts under the proram: Program Stream. In 2013, we received the support of Bread & Roses, through the Oppurtunity Fund. From 2003 to 2010, Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac has been funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, in the category of Perserving Diverse Cultures.
In 2011, Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac participated in the How Philly Moves project. A collection of How Philly Moves images will be presented in a projection installation as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. The projection will run each evening from dusk to dawn, April 7-30th, 2011, at the Kimmel Center.
In 2010 we started offering a weekly clay workshop to reach more diverse communities, by offering classes at the Mann Adult Older Center, (mostly a Latino center) where we offered two hours of clay classes every Wendsday with a final winter exhibition of participants artwork for a period of ten clasess. In 2019 We stop this program.
